The Texas A&M-Chevron Engineering Academy offers an accessible, affordable pathway for students to earn a degree from Texas A&M’s highly ranked engineering program.

Students admitted into the Academy are Texas A&M College of Engineering students from day one. You’ll be co-enrolled at Austin Community College and Texas A&M while you take math, science, and core curriculum courses.

Our smaller student-faculty ratio allows you to connect with your professors and Academy peers. After one or two years co-enrolled at ACC, you’ll transition to Texas A&M University in College Station to finish your bachelor’s degree.

Eligibility Requirements

• Enroll in Austin Community College
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent (GED/HSE)
• Do not already have a bachelor’s degree
• Have not already completed the calculus sequence (MATH 2413, 2414 and 2415 or the equivalent)
• Complete the precalculus or calculus readiness requirements with any of the following:
  • ACC Math Placement Test: Take ACC’s advanced mathematics placement test and score at least 65% to be considered precalculus ready or 80% to be considered calculus ready. See testing details below.
  • College Credit: Your current college transcripts show credit for Precalculus, Trigonometry, Calculus I, or ACC’s “College Algebra for Precalculus” (MATH 1414) with a grade of A, B, or C.
  • Credit by Exam: Advanced Placement or CLEP scores equivalent to a grade of A, B, or C.

  Admission Steps

  1. Apply to ACC and get your ACCeID and password. Complete the ACC new student application.
  2. Register for the ACC Advanced Math Placement Test, if needed.
  3. Complete the ACC math-level pre-qualification form.
  4. Check your ACCmail account frequently. If your pre-qualification is accepted, you will be emailed a link to apply to Texas A&M.
  5. Submit your application and all supporting documents to the Texas A&M Office of Admission by June 15.

  How to Take ACC’s Advanced Math Placement Test

  ACC’s Mathematics Department offers an advanced math placement test (ALEKS) to assess your precalculus and calculus readiness. You can register for the test once you complete the ACC admissions process. A few details:

  • The test fee is $35. The fee includes online resources to help you prepare, such as practice tests and review courses.
  • You’ll need your ACCeID and ACCmail to sign up.
  • Allow at least 1.5 hours to complete the test.
  • Take your placement test early. Test scores that are submitted after the Texas A&M application deadline cannot be used to prequalify you for admission.
  • You are allowed up to five testing attempts.
